Pierre Robin sequence is a birth defect wherein an infant has a facial abnormality that makes breathing difficult, Dr. Jason Toranto, a CHOC Children’s plastic surgeon, tells “American Health Journal.”
Babies with this condition are born with a cleft palate, a small jaw and a tongue that falls into back of throat, he says. The condition is problematic but can be corrected through surgery, Dr. Toranto says.
